In financial services and insurance, nothing stands still for long. Not customer expectations, not regulation, nor the channels and platforms we use to communicate. That’s why continually learning and developing is so important as someone working fractionally.
It’s how I stay sharp, relevant and genuinely useful to the fractional clients who rely on me. Continuous learning as a fractional marketer is vital.
How do I stay on top of industry trends and developments?
Industry insight
Reading trade media and listening to industry podcasts ensures that I keep abreast of regulatory developments. Whether that be Consumer Duty expectations, industry trends or patterns of target client behaviour both B2B or B2C. Clear, compliant communication starts with understanding the landscape and regulatory requirements and always considering the needs of the end client.
Marketing trend tracking
From LinkedIn algorithm changes to new content formats and AI tools, I investigate what’s working across industries and what’s potentially just noise. Cross sector industry events, webinars, podcasts and a good old fashioned book, all help keep my thinking fresh and up to date.
Peer learning
I stay connected to marketing, financial services and fractional CMO communities to learn what’s working in the real world. And there’s nothing more helpful than chatting to other fractionals at some of the networking events I attend with The Slice – a network run by and dedicated to fractional marketers across all sectors. These insights give me a fresh perspective and ideas that can be utilised for the benefit of my clients.
Why it matters for clients
Whilst I now have a marketing career spanning a good few decades (!) I aim to ensure that I offer advice and support that’s current, compliant and grounded in best practice across the industry. It helps me identify opportunities and bring fresh thinking to teams who don’t have in‑house marketing.
By continuous learning, I deliver clearer strategy, smarter content and a robust marketing plan in an ever changing market. To find out how I’ve added value to businesses across the sector, please get in touch for a chat.
